Mathilde — The Geometry of Presence

Created directly from life in a single twenty-minute session, The Geometry of Presence explores the underlying structure of human presence through a language of gesture, volume and spatial tension. 

Neither purely drawing nor painting, the work occupies a space between construction and disappearance. Charcoal establishes weight and direction, while layers of marker articulate shifting planes of light, shadow and movement. The figure emerges not through description but through accumulation—each mark responding to the living reality of the model before it. 

Suspended within a vast field of white, the body becomes both monument and trace. Its physical form remains recognizable, yet its true subject lies elsewhere: in the invisible forces that organize balance, attention and awareness. 

For Fangyou Belleli, the human figure is not a fixed object to be observed, but a living architecture through which presence becomes visible. The work invites the viewer to encounter not only a body in space, but the silent geometry that allows life itself to take form.
