Sculpture, Modelage & Engraving

Modelage

An Emerging Dialogue

I began exploring sculpture and engraving in July 2022 as natural extensions of my gestural painting language—seeking to embody presence not only on canvas, but in volume, matter, and tactile resonance. This initial impulse was interrupted when I returned to China following the passing of my father. That profound chapter of grief and transformation marked a turning point in my practice.

Now, as I reclaim this thread, engraving has returned as a meditative and intimate process.

These forms allow me to translate the energetic immediacy of painting into three-dimensional space—where breath, memory, and gesture take form through bronze, plaster, and mixed media. What was once captured in light and shadow now echoes in surface, weight, and silence.

This section will continue to evolve, featuring my early explorations, collaborative studies, and conceptual works shaped by time, intuition, and material presence.

“Form is the frozen echo of a movement once lived.”
— Anonymous sculptor’s mantra, whispered through centuries of clay and fire.

As with all my mediums, this is not a shift but a continuation—another portal through which the invisible becomes touchable.
