This painting became a turning point. Just after completing it, Fangyou received the call that her father had fallen gravely ill in Shenyang. Stéphane’s portrait, with its uncanny resemblance and contemplative stillness, seemed to foretell the journey ahead — a passage from the atelier toward family, love, and a confrontation with mortality.

The work stands as both closure and threshold: the last painting of one chapter, the silent signal to step into another.
